Group Assignment
The students will work on the project in small groups of 2-3 people. The group assignment will be specified at the preliminary talk.
Course Description
In this lab course, students will first build their own robots step by step using the
Lego Mindstorms NXT robot kits and develope the necessary skills and knowledge in different hardware and software aspects of robotic control. Then in the final project assignment, students will work in team and demonstrate their acquired skills by building a complex robot system to compete against each other in a robot football match or other games like PacMan.
The participants will get an overview and hand-on experiences of a robot system through various playful, game-like assignments. The topics covered in this course includes, for instance, orientation control using multiple sensory modalities like ultrasonic, brightness and touch sensors, as well as microphones; inter-robot communication via Bluetooth; and programming for robotic control in
RobotC, which is similar to the C programming language.
This course will be held in block within two consecutive weeks, from 12. Sep. to 23 Sep., 10:00 - 17:00 daily except weekends. The preliminary talk is scheduled on Mon. 12. Sep 2011 at 10:00 in
MI 03.07.023.
